Cathryn is currently Director at the Office of the Auditor General for Western Australia, where she leads performance audits of state and local public sector agencies and prepares opinions on Ministerial decisions not to provide information to Parliament. Her other public sector roles have included Manager, Retail Building and Services at the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety; Legal Manager, Reform at that Department; General Manager, Legislation and Compliance at the former Department of Mines and Petroleum; and Assistant Director Customer Protection at the Economic Regulation Authority.
Prior to joining the public sector, Cathryn worked as a Lawyer in international, national and local law firms, advising and representing clients in a range of civil, commercial, criminal, regulatory and disciplinary matters. She also worked in the real estate and building industries and operated a small business.
Cathryn holds a post-graduate Juris Doctor with Distinction (law), a Bachelor of Arts (Asian Studies) with triple majors in Political Science, Asian Studies and Japanese, a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice, and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. She is admitted to practice in WA, NSW and the Federal and High Courts of Australia.
